“They want to show the rest of the community that they are a united, tight-knit community.”
A vacant lot next to J&J’s Gallery Bar in the NOTO Arts District transformed Friday into an open-air venue for members of a Lawrence-based aerial troupe.
Laura Lockton, with ReKinection, said seven people were performing during the First Friday Art Walk. She said the group, which holds workshops for circus performance, ecstatic dance, natural healing and other wellness events, typically has a much larger number of artists participating in its performances.
Jennifer Bohlander, owner of Matryoshka Tattoo at 902 N. Kansas Avenue, said NOTO business owners want the First Friday Art Walk to have a different theme each month so frequent visitors have something different to see at each one. They want to show the rest of the community that they are a united, tight-knit community, she said.
