The joyride celebrating friendships – “Yaaron Ki Baraat” ends on a high with the Khiladi and his bestie, producer Sajid Nadiadwala gracing its Grand Finale this week. The chat show that raises a toast to star friendships and showcases celebrities just as they are in real life, has seen some of the hottest celebrity best friends come together and spill the beans on each other – be it Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha, Parineeti Chopra and Sania Mirza, Karan Johar and Farah Khan or Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma. Each of these bestie jodis have put their friendship to test through a series of fun games, tasks and challenges.
Akshay Kumar and Sajid made a splashy entry on a rugged quad bike with Sajid at the wheel and Akshay riding pillion. As the quad rolled in, Akshay stood up like a rockstar with a flaming torch in his hand and blew into it like a pro, making the flames further flare up. Tracing back their way to the beginnings of their friendship to their childhood, Akshay and Sajid revealed that both went to the same school – Don Bosco, Matunga in Mumbai. They would ride together on the same school bus and later on the same BEST bus no 255.
Akshay and Sajid were in the same class at one point but with Akshay, not particularly focused on studies, flunked twice and Sajid finished school two years ahead of Akshay. They not only attended the same school or studied in the same class, but got married the same year, had their children the same year barely 3 days apart and in the same hospital – Breach Candy. And, their wives stayed in the same room post-delivery. Today, not by design, they are neighbors staying in the same building, own the same make of cars in different colors, their kids go to the same school and study in the same class.
With Sajid beating Akshay at the miming and guessing game, ‘Baaton Baaton Mein’, it was time for the latter to brave some punishment – a pole was wheeled in and the superstar was called upon to display his pole-dancing skills to his own raunchy number ‘Maang Meri Bharo’ – something the Khiladi aced with flips, bending backwards, climbing right up to the top of the pole and striking poses before jumping on to host Sajid Khan and shoving him on to a couch for a seductive, stripper-like dance. What’s more … he even humored a 55-year-old lady in the audience and joined her in a duo pole dance act and also gave advice to her son to always respect and feel proud of her as his mother. Akshay stole the audience’s hearts with his humility and friendliness.
