No place takes fitness quite as seriously as Los Angeles. Chalk it up to the industry or the perpetually perfect weather, but Angelenos tend to be more or less in a permanent state of swimsuit-readiness. Of course, where there is demand there is supply, and the city is home to a host of new boutique studios and gyms featuring tough trainers and results-driven workouts. Here, five cult destinations currently shaping some of the most enviable figures in town.

The Body Los Angeles
“The Los Angeles body is lean, toned, and athletic,” says Jenn Glysson. After 10 years spent toning the town’s most in-demand fitness and yoga instructors under the radar, the trainer recently opened a boutique studio in Hollywood. The rotating mix of daily classes includes Primal Movement for increased mobility, Sports and Agility for a serious cardio workout, and Full Body HIIT to increase strength. Each session finishes with a full 10 minutes of foam rolling to lengthen the muscles.

How do WeHo’s Insta-famous wellness gurus keep in selfie-ready shape? Trainer Chase Weber’s time-saving total-body “3-3-3” workouts, which focus on strength, power, and stability, at the Gym on Nemo. Each session is made up of three parts consisting of three moves repeated three times, and can incorporate anything from kettlebells and pull-ups to boxing and sprints. Whether or not you can manage to score an appointment, Weber’s re-grammable words of encouragement on his feed—“there is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs”—alone make him worth following.

ModelFIT
This cult New York studio—whose devotees include Victoria’s Secret models Karlie Kloss, Taylor Hill, and Jourdana Elizabeth—just opened its first Left Coast location in West Hollywood, offering its signature Sculpt and Dance Cardio classes along with obligatory-in-L.A. valet parking. The method uses bands, light weights, sliding disks, and slow, controlled movements to build long, lean muscle, while the in-house nutrition program focuses on targeted health and beauty concerns to get you at least quietly confident in your underwear, if not ready to strut in it on the runway.
