It involves dancing, upper body and core strength, cardio, flexibility – and a pole.

After doing pole fitness internationally for four years Taryn Moore, from Broseley, set up Pole Dance and Fitness in Telford. The 31-year-old said since setting up her studio six weeks ago, she has had clients from the age of 13 to 70.

She said: “Pole dancing is a full body workout, it’s cardio and resistance training and flexibility too.”

“People of any fitness level can do it, it doesn’t matter if you don’t go to a gym. It’s predominantly women but a lot of men are moving into the industry.

“A lot of women find it helps to build their confidence, and find it really inspiring, when you see the physical benefits.”

While pole dancing has something of a reputation, Taryn says the concept is now being reinvented as a method to keep fit.

She added: “We do all sort of stuff, fitness, and the pole dancing. The spins that you do with the poles are very dancy.

“It’s for people of all shapes and sizes, I have one woman who is 70 and one girl who is 13. They are all normal ladies.

“I have doctors, all types of people come to the classes.

“It’s for any ability and any type of fitness background. You can have one on one tuition or in a group.
