Attempting to control other people’s emotions is futile.

When you are clear about what you need to do, simply take action.  Stop worrying about how other people will react or respond.

Others’ reactions are their experience and their business.  The act of managing other people’s emotions will prove more destructive than helpful.

That being said, it is important to take other people’s experiences into consideration.  When possible, choose a kind method of communication over an abrasive one.  Just know that at the end of the day, other people’s emotions and reactions are solely theirs.

The flip side is true as well…your emotions, feelings, and reactions are completely up to you.  The more you take ownership of your feelings, the clearer you will be when you make decisions that impact others.

As you take on this week, ask yourself these two questions:

(1) Where am I giving away my power?
(2) Where am I holding back for the sake of other people’s emotions?
