The Steps star, 42, took up the activity 12 years ago and is in amazing shape because of it , which has helped put her in pole position on the BBC dancing show.

According to the Mirror, she said last week: “I learned to pole dance for the play Saucy Jack And The Space Vixens in 2006 and I loved it.”

The singer, who topped the leader board with Giovanni Pernice, continued dancing after that and even used her skill again in 2016 when she starred in in The Naked Truth.

The play, directed by Lisa Riley, is a comedy about five women who take up pole dancing to raise money for a breast cancer charity.

Faye will be more than prepared for any Strictly related injuries after suffering burns on the pole.

She said previously: “I’ve had a training session today and I’m red raw all the way across my inner thighs, and I can see bruising coming up already.

“I’ve been doing a Downward Crucifix and Martini Glass pose. All good fun, but really hard work and it’s painful.
